Heironimus started his career as a racing official in a state patrol judge’s tower, assisting the stewards watch for trouble during the running of each race. He then began working in the racing secretary’s office as entry clerk and identifier. After three years there he was promoted to assistant racing secretary at Shenandoah Downs, and later became racing secretary.
Heironimus’ staff for the Shenandoah meeting will consist of William Dick as assistant secretary and placing judge, while Douglas Lamp and Dean Nickerson will assist in the placing judge’s stand. Harold Utz will handle the duties of paddock judge and timer while Richard Moore will serve as clerk of scales.
