(Continued from Page 1) didn’t know where Cartel was while Starks and Gatewood were dancing, thal he saw the three standing and talking but didn’t heai what was said. Cartel "seemed to be a little angry,” Turner acknowledged in response to Biddle’s questions.
He testified that he knew Carter was mad because the defendant said he was going to get Gatewood and Starks before the night was over. Turner said Carter repeated the threat several times in a “clenched teeth” type of manner.
Turner answered Biddle that he had asked Carter tc leave because “I didn’t want him to cause any trouble ... I thought he would because he was mad.”
Ernest Major Dennis, third prosecution witness, said he’d hear Carter utter what “could have been threat: • . . I’m not sure, it’s beer so long.” Dennis testified that he remembered Carter saying Starks was there with Anna Rose Gatewood when she should have been with Carter.
Dennis also said that Carter didn't appear to be intoxicated. Rather than drunk, the defendant looked like he was “feeling good” from the effects of the alcohol, according to Dennis. He added that Carter seemed “more depressed than angry.”
