If you rent out your vacation home but occupy it for your own use for more than two weeks each year, your deductions are limited to the property taxes and mortgage interest. The remaining deductions cannot be more than the total income (less the tax & interest figure). However, if you rent it out for less than 15 days • you do not have to declare the income at all.
