Preparations are going forward at full speed for the 29th running of the Rappahannock Point-to-Point Races on Saturday, May 20th at Thornton Hill Farm 2 miles south of Sperryville on Route 522. The promise of good weather for spectators and picnics leads the Race Committee to expect a good crowd. Food and beverages will be available and there will be ample-free parking for all.
In an effort to make the races even more popular for spectators, horse owners and riders, this year’s event will highlight the presentation of trophies. A special platform has been made for the presentation of awards to the owners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place horses and to the winning riders. The Rappahannock Elementary School Spring music program, entitled “It's Music,” will be presented on Thursday, May 18, at 8 p.m. instead of on Thursday, May 11, as had been previously announced.
