Infringement “One of the things that bothers me is the infringement pert,” remarked Supervisor Clarence Baldwin. “TTiere's no way of telling if a gun is loaded without stopping a car and checking...We’re being infringed upon enough already,” he said. "I don’t intend to stop any car that’s going 60 miles an hour,” Bankston responded. “If I see someone going five miles an hour, whether 1 see a gun or not, I’ll stop them. I have the right to stop them now. What I want is something to charge them with if I find a loaded gun.”
In a motion to close the public hearing, Supervisor J. R. Latham also moved to adopt both proposed ordinances.
His motion to enact the two ordinances failed for lack of a second. However, it appeared that the rest of the Board didn’t hear the second part of Latham’s motion.
Chairman E. P. Luke suggested that the Supervisors delay action on the proposed ordinances and a vote was postponed until the June 1 Board meeting.
