The score at the start of the last event of the meet had the Rapps ahead of their closest competitor, Stonewall, by just one point. It was up to the mile relay team of Dawn Keithley, Janice Aylor, Johanna Day and Jamelle Prudhum to secure the final points which would award RCHS the Skyline District Championship. Each runner was determined not to allow other teams that the Panthers had previously defeated to pass them. Panther fans were ecstatic as Jamelle Prudhum assured them of the varsity girls’ victory when she sped toward the finish, placing the team second with the state qualifying time of 4:17. The relay team successfully surpassed Stonewall in the event, clinching eight points to win the meet.
