Liz Freeman ran in the main body of the pack in the 880 yd. run until reaching the last curve. She broke out in‘ an all-out sprint to place 6th at the finish line.
Ann Thomas continues a family distance running tradition with a 6th place in tough competition in the mile and running 4th in the 2mile, only to be disqualified by a foul at the start of the race. Her 2-mile time, however, set a new school record of 13:01.5.
Both the 880 and mile relay teams offered some of the most exciting moments of Rappahannock’s competition. The 880 relay team, consisting of Janice Aylor, Rhonda Estes, Natalie Swindler and Lynnell Prudhum, demonstrated Rapp’s determination to win by continuing to put forth a forceful effort even after the pack pulled ahead. Lynnell, the team's anchor, made up much lost time in an outstanding display of speed to place the team fifth in the district with 1:57.3.
