Setting sail into its sixth year, the Piedmont Environmental Council has made a marked impression upon this part of the country and continues to provide a positive demonstration of the sort of thing which private initiative can accomplish in the common interest of people who live here and wish to be able to continue making their homes in this powerfully beautiful countryside.
A solid case study of this came recently with a conference organized by PEC at which area lawyers, planners, town and county officials and citizens, met with a panel of experienced experts, many from other parts of the nation, to discuss a both timely and provacative topic—“Who Decides Our Future?”
The meeting provided a stimulating forum for thought in the matter of planning use of the limited open land assets of this Piedmont countryside. Judging
