at Heimer presented Sharon Kilpatrick's name as a third alternative to fill the vacant School Board seat from Stonewall-Hawthome District. She reported that Mrs. Kilpatrick has a Masters degree in education, had been a teacher for four years and had covered education for a year for a Washington, D. C. daily paper. “Her outstanding feature is that she’s educated in education," said Mrs. Heimer. She added that she'd talked to Masterson many, many times and had been told by him that he was only finishing out someone else's term and had no intention of accepting reappointment for lour years. She asked if his reversal was due to “his competitive nature coming out."
Charlie Manson asked the Trustees to consider the candidates for the School Board on their merits —qualifications, ability and know-how—and not on their desire for the position. appears to be a contest "“of personalities and not of qualifications,” he added.
Robert Heffern, an elementary principal in Culpeper and resident ot Castleton, said "as an educator and a parent, I suspect my interests would be better served by a person with children in the school system” and urged the trustees to consider Irvin Kenyon for the appointment.
