These counties of the Piedmont are at a critical threshold in planning together and learning together about practical methods of wise planning and developing use of their limited air, land and water resources without taxing people out. We need only to look next door at Prince William, Fairfax or Arlington counties to see how not to do it.

The PEC has no authority over anything and costs the taxpayers nothing. But PEC and its professional planning staff are due warm gratitude, and indeed the major credit, for its large role in assisting and bringing fresh and positive new ideas to our own professional town, county and regional planners.
