After the war he served in parishes in Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia before becoming rector of the Pohick Church in 1940.
Rev. Buxton was a member of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a chaplain. He was the chaplain of the Stratford Hall chapter of the Mount Vernon Ladies Auxiliary; a member of the Order of Morgan’s Men of Kentucky, the St. Mary’s Men of the Confederate States of America and an honorary member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Elliott Page Buxton of the Sleepy Hollow Manor Nursing Home; a son, Edward N. Buxton of Annandale; a daughter, Mrs. Jean B. Moffett of Washington, Va.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Young People’s Organization of Pohick Church, 9301 Richmond Hwy., Lorton, Va. 22079.
