Relating hit experiences as a student over half a century ago in a country school on the prairies, William Carrigan urged the students to devote themselves to the serious task of acquiring an excellent education, both inside and outside of the classroom. Mr. Carrigan, a part-time resident of Rappahannock County, is the Director of the National Eye Foundation, and of the International Development Agency, which supplies free textbooks to students in developing nations.
The school’s most important prize, the Dr. William Lynn Memorial Award for Academic Excellence, went to 9th grader Michael Blake and to 7th grader Scotty Reid, both of Front Royal.
