Atkins in

Fatal Accident

A Rappahannock native, Frank Lee Atkins of Sperryville, was one of two casualties resulting from a three-vehicle collision near Bealeton last Monday, July 17.

83-year-old Atkins, who

fa failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection of Routes 28 & 17, collided, with a Buick sedan, striking it broadside as he entered the intersection in the north bound lane of Rt. 17.

Josie M. Henley, a 66-yearold woman from Virginia Beach, who was a passenger in the Buick Sedan, received fatal injuries as a result of the accident. Both Henley and Atkins were declared dead on arrival at Fauquier Hospital.

Others injured in the collision, were Valerie Walker, 27, of Fairfax, who is listed in good condition, Hunter D. Dodson, 83, of Woodville listed in guarded condition at Fauquier Hospital and Elmyra Hanson 67, and Edgar L. Henley also 67 of Virginia Beach, both considered in fair condition. Louis W. Hansen of Virginia Beach and Devin Anderson of Fairfax are in satisfactory conditon.
