In a world full of takers, Charles and Roberta Jackson stand out. They are givers. They give love, that rarest of commodities, and with it, the chance for a good and decent life.
The Jacksons are raising their second set of children. After bringing up three sons and a daughter, they found room in their home near Scrabble for foster children. More importantly, they found room in their hearts for the five girls who have become a part of their family.
Foster homes are hard to locate, particularly for older children who may present discipline problems. Good foster homes are rarer still. It’s difficult for untrained volunteers—no matter how honorable their intentions—to deal with troubled youngsters whose problems have been caused by others. The Jacksons have the knack of reaching those kids and letting them know there’s still someone who cares.
