Charles and Roberta are not wealthy. Their home is comfortable but modest and everybody works. Charles is employed at the foundry in Culpeper but his job isn’t finished when he leaves the plant. Two weeks ago, he started his annual vacation. Instead of taking it easy, loafing around the house or along the river with a fishing pole in his hand, Charles had lined up extra jobs for every day of the week but Sunday.
Roberta runs the home and the girls pitch in to help there and in the garden. “It’s learning to them. They need to know how to work when they go out on their own,” Mrs. Jackson said.
