Updike

Glenn Hartwell Updike, Jr., five and a half-month-old son of Glenn H. and Lynda Thorpe Updike of Newsoms, died Wednesday, July 12, 1978 in Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, Norfolk.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday afternoon in the Thorpe family cemetery at Newsoms by the Rev. Harry Bunch and the Rev. Lewis Harris.

Besides his parents, the infant is survived by a brother, Lee John Updike, and two sisters, Kelley Lynn and Jennifer Melinda Updike, all at home, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and M?s. John B. Updike of Washington, Va., maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee L. Thorpe of Newsoms, and a maternal greatgrandmother, Mrs. Luna Collier of LaCrosse, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the special research fund in the infant’s name at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, 609 Colley Ave., Norfolk. Va. 23507.
