other steps to improve fire safety, including the installation of fire extinguishers in all the buildings of the courthouse complex. Are these the same fire extinguishers that the Supervisors resolved to install in October, 1977? The same fire extinguishers that are still not in evidence today ?

Good intentions aren’t enough. It can’t be that expensive to buy a couple of fire extinguishers. Even in Rappahannock’s notoriously tight budget, there’s room for this concession to concern for the public safety. The Supervisors would do well to pay more than lip service to the advice of Fire Departments in Rappahannock and around the country—remove hazards, make escape plans and above all, be prepared.

At a very minimum, preparation includes fire extinguishers in public buildings.
