Anyone who has visited Ye Olde General Store in Amissville knows that it is more than just a general store. It’s a grocery store, a tack store, and a sandwich bar all rolled into one—and if its owners, Sally and Bob Dunphy get their wish, a garden center will be added to the list next year.
Since the store’s opening, says Sally Dunphy, “business has been super.” Because of the wide variety of merchandise which the store stocks, it draws its customers from a large area. Local people buy their groceries there, while many shoppers come from the surrounding counties for the tack and leather goods.
The Dunphys had originally intended the store to supply only saddlery, "but after we looked at the place, we deckled to combine the three,” explains Mrs.. Dunphy.
