Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington was the setting Thursday, July 5, 1979 for the wedding of Miss Rebecca Lynn Monger and Ronald Davidson Hawkins. The Rev. Jennings Hobson III performed the candlelight ceremony at seven o’clock in the evening and Mrs. Paul A. Nichols of Flint Hill was organist.
The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Joe B. Monger of Mobjack and the bride-groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Hawkins, Jr. of Washington.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal dress of white dotted swiss designed with a sweetheart neckline and long cuffed sleeves which were enhanced with yellow ribbon woven through a band of lace at mid-arm. The tiered skirt was accented with the lace and ribbon at each of the three tiers. A pearl pendant was her only jewelry. She wore a picture hat and carried a white prayer book topped with white sweetheart roses and babies breath. Streamers tied in lover’s knots fell from the flowers.
Miss Brenda Joyce Monger was maid of honor for her sister. Her gown was of pale yellow dotted swiss with elbow-length sleeves and deep yellow lace accenting the tiered skirt. She carried long stemmed daisies and babies breath with pale yellow streamers and she wore daisies in her hair.
Mr. Hawkins was best man for his son and ushers were Clarence Early Giles, Jr. and Rufus Ashton Baines, both of Washington.
The sacrament of Holy Communion followed the marriage ceremony. A reception with Mrs. R. A. Baines and Mrs. Thomas Massie of Washington and Mrs. Kent Henry of Culpeper as hostesses followed in the parish hall. Mrs. Massie served the tiered wedding cake which she made. Mrs. Robert H. Jenkins, Jr. of Manassas was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Monger wore a formal melon chiffon gown with white accessories and a corsage of white sweetheart
