Peter J. Laiti of Gifton apparently overreacted July 14 when he saw police vehicles on the shoulder of Route 211 as he was travelling west bound near Hillsdale Grocery. Laiti lost control of his 75 Plymouth, swerved from the passing lane of the dual highway to the west shoulder, veered diagonally across to the median and struck a 78 Dodge station wagon driven by J. Newbill Miller of Washington, according to Trooper R. A. Baines.
Baines and another trooper had several violators stopped on the shoulder of the road when Laiti approached the scene.
