Information Wanted
Eastham asked McDaniel if copies of a booklet entitled “Title I —How It Works” could be provided to the administration and to both School Board and Title I Advisory Council members.
“With all the reading and math problems we have, we’re going to be dealing with this program for quite a while,” said Eastham. "I would appreciate anything that will aid in our understanding of Title I.”
McDaniel replied that he had only one copy of the outof-print booklet. As parts of the booklet are considered outdated by the State Department .of Education, McDaniel instead said he would provide Eastham with the same material highlights of the Title I law given Advisory Council members.
The dissemination of information on Title I to the general public has been a problem of the School Board for many years, noted chairman Beverly Massie.
“We need really to have a one-on-one approach,” she said, explaining that parents of children involved in Title I have been asked to be “ambassadors” to other parents who children are new to the program.
