In giving a rough breakdown of the costs, Fisher said that $250 would barely cover the cost of the equipment and the installation of the meter. To break even, the fee would have to be $300. Bearing this figure in mind, it was felt that the total cost of installation should be at least $350.
“Should the new fee be advertised in the paper?” asked Hawkins.
“Well, I think it will be, whether we want it or not!” laughed Fisher.
Mr. Jenkins proposed the motion that the meter installation be raised to $350 and be explained to the public, H. T. Updike seconded the motion, and it was unanimously passed.
Hawkins brought up the business of the street signs. They have been painted, and a motion to send a check of $6.00 to Deedee Johnson for her work was unanimously passed.
A motion to pay Mr. Ward, a dowser, $15.00 for finding water was proposed by C. E. Giles Jr. and unanimously passed. Mr. Ward worked for 2‘/j-3 hours, it was reported, and he had suggested a fee between the sums of $15.00 and $20.00. The motion to pay the monthly bills was approved.
