Madison took the lead with the opening basket and kept it through the entire game. Rappahannock, led by Gary Leake with 19 points and Dean Wilson with 13, kept coming close only to have Madison convert on the Crucial plays. The Panthers pulled to within one in the third quarter but then missed the shot that would have given them the lead. A crucial factor in the outcome was Leake’ fouling out in the final minutes of the game.
