Melanie I hornhill, a freshman at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, returned to her alma mater, Rappahannock County High School, this week to tell an assembly of seniors and juniors of her time last summer in Switzerland with the Lions International Youth Exchange program.
Melanie described her fiveweek visit in The Alps as an experience she would never forget. “I stayed with three different families,” she said. “We went snow skiing, and spent some days lounging in the sun.” Melanie said she was treated as a member of the family in each household

Applications are now being accepted for a new $600 faculty-staff scholarship at James Madison University.
The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in the1 fall Of 1980 to ah'fentoring freshman in the university's College of Letters and Sciences. The award will be given solely on the basis of merit.
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must rank in the upper fifth of his or her high school class in the junior year. The recipient must also have College Board scores of 1,100 or more with neither the verbal nor math score below 500. In addition, the recipient must demonstrate the potential to make exceptional non-academic contributions at JMU.
