only five strong players, according to Edmonson. The sixth, seventh and eighth men on the bench are questionable. The team also lacks overall quickness, a problem in putting together the fast break. Edmonson^, emphasized, however, that the biggest problem is sloppy ball handling with his team turning the ball over 45 times in two games. He also said foul shooting percentages need improvement.
Coach Edmonson is new to RCHS but he has experience at coaching basketball. Before he came to Rappahannock, he coached the eighth and ninth grade teams at Franklin High School. In his first year there, he took his team to the Fall Line District Semi-finals with a 68 record.
The starting five on the JV squad are 6-2 freshman forward Mike Leake, 6-2 sophomore center Carl Frye, 5-9 sophomore guard Glenn Fletcher, 5-5 freshman guard Robert Myers and 6-2 sophomore forward Lee Anderson.
The JV season got underway with a victory over Clarke County at home on December 5. Forward Mike Leake and guard Glenn Fletcher provided the Panthers with l2 points apiece in the 37-20 win over the Eagles.
The second game against Central on December 7 went right down to the wire. The Panthers came out on the bottom, 36-35, despite an impressive 22 point binge from Leake.
