Sid Mank, Rappahannock Lions Club Youth Exchange chairman, and other members of the, club, outlined the program and called for applicants for next summer’s exchange visits.
Young people from all over Virginia will travel together next July by transatlantic jet to Paris for three days of sightseeing before proceeding by train to the homes of their host families throughout Western Europe, Scandinavia and Finland for a five-week stay.
The Rappahannock Lions club awards a $500 scholarship to help defray the travel expenses of its representative. Room and board at the host family in Europe is free. Young men and women of the county, aged 16 through 20 should apply to the Guidance Office at the High School or contact Sid Mank at 675-3244.
Host families are also needed for Lions Club Youth Exchange visitors frpin Europe. These young people, who all speak English, will arrive any time from June through August, depending on country of origin. Any families interested in having an exchange youth in their home for 4 to 5 weeks should also contact Mank or any member of the Rappahannock Lions Club.
