They maintained that Suspension only hurts a student’s grades and does not relate to drugs.
"They ought to stick with what they say. One gets away with it while .another is punished," wrote one student critical of enforcement policies.
“They don’t listen to us anyway so what’s the use of writing this?” asked another. Commenting on the school board’s interest in education, one student wrote ’You could have fooled me!”
“Which illegal member of the school board did this incredible farce?” asked the last student comment read by Mrs. Massie.
Noting that discussion on the drug policy revisions had “gone on long enough,” board member Robert Eastham moved that' a committee be named to draw up the text of a revised policy for action at the January 8 board meeting.
In response to a unanimous vote of approval I for Eastham’s suggestion, Mrs. Massie appointed Eastham, Alan Stokes and Charles Eldred to the committee. She thanked the I parents, children, teachers I and administrators who provided input for the policy I revisions and asked for support for the revised drug , and alcohol policy from the same groups. “It certainly will be backed up by this board," she promised.
