Richard Pierson is a very big part of Ginnv’s Kitchen. He does some of the frosting decoration for the wedding and other very ornate cakes that Ginny bakes. For this task he is very well qualified. Richard is a calligrapher and numbers the invitations for several Inaugural Balls among his assignments.
The Piersons live at Oak Crest, a sixty-five-year-old home in Amissville that was the first prefabricated house sold by Sears and Roebuck. They were featured in the Rappahannock News, along with their house, when the structure had to be moved back to make room for Route 211.
Oak Crest is of Victorian design and has twenty rooms. Mrs. Pierson has plenty of room to spread out and she needed it recently when she baked and decorated a wedding cake for 300 people. "The biggest layer had to be filled with seven different batches of batter,” she rmemberd. "It took two and one half hours just to bake.” She couldn’t remember all the quantities of ingredients that went into the cake, but she did know that it took seven dozen eggs. The cake had twelve tiers in all, and when the Piersons went to put it together shortly before the wedding, they realized that there was a layer missing. Mrs. Pierson was
