Sparked by a request from the Rappahannock County Educational Association for itemized deductions to be shown on teacher pay deposit slips, the board decided to investigate putting pay records and other financial data on computer.
Speaking on behalf of the RCEA, net and gross wages plus monthly deductions have been shown on teachers’ bank deposit slips by bookkeeper Frances “Tiny” Carney. Now, she said, only net and gross wages are shown, a change that has brought complaints to the RCEA from ten teachers.
