Lane noted that highway department snow plows generally stop where the bus route ends with bus routes accorded top priority for snow removal and said this must be taken into account by the board. He suggested that Bloomer ask again for volunteers willing to consolidate bus tops before rearranging the stops to conform with the maximum walking distances allowed by the state.
“We’re infringing on school operations,’’ Eastham countered. “Dr. Bloomer was asked to achieve a 10 per cent gas reduction but he can’t carry out our directive if we don’t give him the tools.
