If you happen to be an old newspaper collector, you should have a valuable insight into the wisdom of investing in real estate during inflation. As a case in point, one home recently sold for 552.000. Five years ago this same home sold for 535.000.

True, prices were never higher but for that matter, prices probably will never be lower either. For example, if this $35,000 home increased in value at a rate of only 6 percent per year, in ten years it will be worth $62,680. In twenty years, the same house will be selling at $112,250. And a 6 percent appreciation is conservative in these days of double digit inflation.
