Virginians would do well to take note of this interesting fact: in 1976, Senator Harry F. Byrd Jr., ran for the U. S. Senate as an independent. His Democratic opponent was retired Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt, a strong Carter supporter. The Monday, October 13, 1980, edition of The Washington Post reports that Zumwalt is working hard for the election of Ronald Reagan! Senator Byrd has also endorsed Ronald Reagan.

President Carter’s record is one of failure. Any stillundecided Rappahannock County voter should ask why the two fierce political opponents of four years ago now agree? And then vote for Reagan in November!
