Exlrn*ion A*t*nl Cut Flower Care: Flowers that are properly cared for when cut will make longer lasting, attractive arrangements.
Always use a sharp knife or shears to cut the flower stem. A dull cut will crush the stem and plug up the plant tissue so it can't carry water.
Use a clean container for the flowers. Used containers should be cleaned thoroughly with a household bleach solution to get rid of any bacteria.
After the flowers have been cut, put them in warm water and make sure several indies of the stem are below water. Remove any leaves that are covered by water. Then cover the flowers with a plastic film to prevent moisture loss and put them in a refrigerator or cool room for four to six hours.
