“I support Mr. Eastham in his concerns but he’s not a diplomat,” Lane continued. The questions involved in school issues are "very deep and involved,” he said, suggesting that concerned citizens “attend all the school board meetings and not just read about them.”
Although he abstained from voting on the proposals to absorb the budget cuts, Lane added that he hated to see all the benefits for school employees and appropirations relating to capital outlay “thrown out.”
Without commenting on the proposed 1981-82 budget, W. G. Eastham congratulated the supervisors on their work. “You’ve made it possible for us to live here by keeping taxes where we could live with them.”
