For instance, motorists will not be able to reserve combinations in the regular passenger license plate series, composed of three letters preceded or followed by numbers above 100 (ABC 101 - ABC 999 or 101 ABC - 999ABC).
Nor will they be able to request combinations reserved for motorists who meet special requirements such as HP - Handicapped, NR - Naval Reserve and RS - Rescue Squad. Information about restricted combinations will be available at DMV offices.
Also, someone who qualifies for special license (nates such as the Rescue Squad plates would not be able to reserve a CommuniPlate combination like 1ST AID for use on those plates.
After applications are processed at DMV headquarters, CommuniPlates will be individually manufactured at the Powhatan Correctional Center. Applicants should receive their CommuniPlates by mail within 60 days of the date they applied.
