Eliminating non-essential use of electricity is important because Potomac Edison uses coal to generate more than 95 percent of the electricity you use. And should the coal miners’ strike continue, your cooperation will help extend our ability to provide the electricity you need. Coal supplies have gone down considerably since the strike began March 27, and they are getting lower each day. Therefore, it is necessary to ask aU Potomac Edison customers to help conserve coal by using less electricity. Here are some ways you can cut back on your use of electricity at home: • Avoid all unneeded use of indoor lighting and electric appliances. • Turn off outdoor lights not needed for safety. • Reduce use of electrically heated hot water. • Use dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer only for full loads. • Operate air conditioners no lower than 78 degrees and turn off units in mild weather and on cool nights.
