The Virginia Department of Welfare says applications for the fuel assistance program are now being taken by local departments of welfare and social services.
Households should expect to receive less benefits from this year’s program than they obtained last year. This program is not intended to cover an annual fuel need or the fuel need during the heating season. It is only designed to assist households in their fuel needs.
Anyone wishing information about the program can call the Virginia Department of Welfare, tollfree, at 1-800-552-3431 during normal business hours, or the county welfare office at 675-3613.
