On September 19, said Smoot, he telephoned sheriff Buntin to complain about two cars parked in his yard and the sheriff replied that he couldn’t come because he was keeping the jail and would send a deputy instead. According to Smoot, no one showed up and he chased the illegal parkers out of his yard only to have a deputy drive by a few minutes later. “He turned around in the cemetery and didn’t even stop!’’
‘‘What does the center have to do with cars parked in Mr. Smoot’s yard?” asked Mtv Aytor. .“Can he prove v those cart had anything to do with the community center?”
Smoot continued that on another occasion, he’d met Woodward at the court house and thought the deputy could hear the noise from the community center while standing on the court house steps, he refused to check out the center itself.
