Governor John N. Dalton has announced that beginning October 1, the Virginia Department of Welfare, with the assistance of the Virginia Department for the Visually Handicapped, will administer the Title XX Social Services Block Grant.
The 1981-82 Comprehensive Annual Plan for Social Services under Title XX of the National Social Security Act, as amended, will be used as the basis for administering the Title XX Block Grant by the Welfare and Visually Handicapped Departments.
Commissioner William L. Lukhard, of the Welfare Department, and Commissioner William T. Coppage, of the Visually Handicapped Department, say they expect a smooth transition from the previous social services program under Title XX to the new Block Grant program on October 1.
