Massie said he expects most of the livestock that passes through the market to come straight off farms in Page, Rappahannock and Warren. “What we really want to try and do is stress that we’re selling farm fresh cattle. We want our stock to come right from the farm —that's better than stock hauled from market to market.”

Massie hopes to find stockholders in the same place. To date, the venture has attracted about IS farmer-investors from Rappahannock County. “And I’m looking for some more!” he announced.

Anyone interested in further information on this agricultural business venture, evidence of the confidence at least a few farmers have in the future of farming in this area, can contact Massie at his home in Rappahannock (675-3537) or at the Front Royal Livestock Exchange on Rivermont Drive (635-5511).
