Dr. Paul T. Frantz, 35year-old associate professor in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of North Carolina, will head the new open heart surgery program at Roanoke Memorial Hospitals. He will join the staff at Roanoke Memorial in January and will also assist in recruiting a staff for the cardiac surgery program.

Dr. Frantz is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Frantz of Washington, Va., and is married and they have a 7year-old daughter. He is a native of Washington, D. C. and lived in the metropolitan area during his childhood. His father was in the military and Dr. Frantz attended high school in Paris.
