“There is so much not known about future funds for | EMS in Virginia,” Susan < McHenry, director of the State Division of Emergency 1 Medical Services (EMS), explained at the October 27 meeting of the Rap- i pahannock-Rapidan EMS | Council.
“Until 1982, we are guaranteed a 37 percent reduced amount of federal money as previously i allocated," said McHenry I who is also a member of the ; Ad Hoc Study Committee I that completed an EMS report for Governor John j Dalton earlier this year. i
“After that, some level of i funding will be continued < under the block grant program. The state will divide and administer these block grant funds. EMS could receive as little as $1.”
Before block grants began. Federal dollars were distributed to state and local levels to establish regional EMS systems and pay for training and purchase of equipment.
