There have been no close encounters of the third kind, at least not yet, but two Rappahannock residents —both upstanding citizens with unblemished reputations for truth and reliability—have reported mysterious sightings of unidentified flying objects.

The spotters have asked to remain anonymous so readers will have to take it on faith that their judgements can be trusted.

At 6:50 a.m. on Monday, February 8, an early riser in Gid Brown Hollow saw a tremendous orange colored light suspended over Jenkins Mountain. “It just sat there and gradually faded out as if a dimmer switch had been turned off,” the watcher reported.
