Just down the hill from the family's farm house was a little cottage, a cottage that became Cotton's first business center. "1 got myself a miter box and at 1 and 2 a.m. in the morning. I'd be out in that cottage trying to cut frames, trying to cut pieces of glass. 1 gave up several times," she admitted. ' But 1 knew I could do it and I did. That was about 25 years ago and I’ve been framing ever since.”
That long ago PTA fair did more than uncover a hobby and business for Cotton. "I suggested to my sister—she's a retired school teacher—that she take up picture framing and she really did it!" The sister, who learned the art under Cotton’s direction, now makes her monthly house payments with the money she earns in her framing business. "Of course, she’s on a major road and she never goes anywhere for fear she'll miss a customer," Cotton said. "I’m not that
