“Fascinating" is how she describes her work, the same word visitors pick to describe her business. She’s perfectly at ease around the tools of her trade—electric saws, planes, sanders, hammers and glass cutters. One side of the basement is filled literally to the rafters with her stock. Strips of wood hang from the ceiling. Work benches hold more pieces, stacked between trays filled with hardware of all shapes and sizes.
The rear of the shop bursts with autumn colors of dried flowers spilling out over the tops of- boxes. Orange Japanese lanterns, the silvery gleam of money plants, brilliant yellows and deep purples of straw flowers—all are left-overs from another of Cotton's business crafts. She used to create dried flower arrangements. Now she uses just a few for wall placques or to add a splash of color on a burlap background encircled by a barnwood frame.
Crafts she once focused on now take a back seat to her framing. She still paints and decoupages her little threelegged stools, a long-time county favorite for a new baby gift. And she continues to do a few other decoupage items for friends or old
