RAA Meeting

An organizational meeting for the Rappahannock Recreation Association is scheduled for Thursday, February 18 at 7 p.m. at the local high school, according to Guy Foster. He stressed the importance of this meeting, explaining that officers and directors will be elected and coaches selected.
There is a great need for many people to become involved in this group. There are many children who participate in the athletic activities and it takes many leaders to assist with the large groups. This begins the sixth year of the association, which, according to Foster, is getting larger every year, with more youth wanting to participate.
Last year in baseball alone, there were 70 children; 43 in last fall's soccer group. In basketball for those in graded 4 through 7 there are 76 participants. The basketball clinic is presently meeting every Saturday from 1 to 3 in the afternoon.
Foster said there have been' lots of teenagers acting as leaders or assisting, and are doing an excellent job, but still more are needed. You do not have to be a sports fan especially to help, just come to the meeting and see if there isn’t a niche for you.
As the years slip by, the more we know how little we know.
