Robbie Heterick Critzer
Lifelong Town Resident
Robbie Heterick Critzer, a descendant of one of the county's first families, died Tuesday, January 4, 1983. She was 86 years old.
Mrs. Critzer was a life-long resident of the town of Washington. Her roots in the town stretch back into history. Her family home, Heterick House, is one of the oldest houses in the county. It is one of the original six dwellings shown on the first map of what was to become the town of Washington. One of Mrs. Critzer’s ancestors was the first clerk of the new county that was carved from Culpeper 150 years ago. '
She was born on May 13, 18%. Her husband, John Wallace Critzer, was an employee of the highway department and helped build many of the first paved roads and bridges in Rappahannock. Mr. Critzer also served as Sheriff of Rappahannock County, retiring in 1%2.
Mrs. Critzer is supived by a son, Wallace H. Critzer; two grandsons, Bruce Lee Critzer and Steven Owen Critzer; and two great-grandchildren, Robbie Lee Critzer and Martha Helen Critzer. All are residents of the town of Washington. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 7, at 3 p.m. in the Washington Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Jennings Hobson III presiding. Clore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
