County artist Rex Slack opened an exhibit, Rural Images at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington.

Sylvia Kreitler was appointed as superintendent of the Rappahannock Welfare Department.
Outstanding athletes for 1981-82 at Rappahannock County High School were Eugene Grigsby, Earl Jewell, Scott Keithly, Doyle Dunn, Donna Atkins, Kim 'Williams, Crlstol Porter, Sheri Brown and Carolyn Butler.
Elementary Scholars honored were Tammy Butler, Denise Eidson, Edwin Eastfaam, Lee Baines, Richie Adams, Tim Ahern and Jimmy Darner.
At Wakefield, awards were given to John Skowronskl, Wynn Voeks, Kim Aylor, Josephine Rood, Douglas Voeks, Nancy Massie and Tara Welty. The academic excellence awards went to Jennifer Anderson and Carolyn Shaw. Ryan Barnes won the all-around boy award.
Julie Burke, RCHS sophomore, was chosen as ah allstate act in 4-H competition, performing before 3,000 representatives to the 4-H Congress.

Theodore Barron of Viewtown was named to the Board of the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.
Newly-elected senior class -officers at RCHS were Terry Tylek, treasurer, Ginger Eidson, secretary, Amanda Magee, vice president and Crlstol Porter, president.
Benjamin Lee Bird was elected chairman of the board of the Piedmont Environmental Council.
Whistle Cup Winners ip the Rappahannock Tennis Tournament were Teresa McLawhom and Fanning Baumgardner.
A photographic exhibit by Francie Shroeder and Henry Eastham opened at Middle Street Gallery. Entitled “Rappahannock Exposures” the exhibit 1 captures county scenes and people.

Lois Moore Manookian, Rappahannock artist, opened at Middle Street Gallery with her display of Rappahannock paintings.
Mary S. Priest was named homemaker of the year at achievement night ceremonies.

Rappahannock son John Jackson returned to the county for a blues concert, sponsored by RAAC, on December 19.
Russie Miller was honored by the proclamation of Russie Miller Day by the Flint Hill United Methodist Church.
