“clarification” hearings on a new county zoning ordinance. John R. Debergh asked that the Planning Commission reconsider the formula for determining flood plains. A sizable portion of his farm along the Rush River is zoned in that category. “Nothing was handed down to me by my forbears of any flood problems and I’ve never had any myself,” Debergh said. The property has belonged to his familv for several generations.
Mutt Atkins retired at the age of 65 after 44 years as a school bus driver in Rappahannock County. He had been driving buses since 1929.
’ Preston Lee Douglas of Dillon, South Carolina, assumed duties Wednesday as a coach and faculty member at Rappahannock High School. He fdled the position created by the resignation of Carter Ellis. Coach Douglas is a graduate of Pembroke State University in Pembroke, North Carolina.
