Current Board of Zoning Appeals Chairman Benjamin Lee Bird was re-elected chairman and Sharon Genebach Luke, the board’s newest member, elected vicechainiian at the BZA’s first meeting of the new year Thursday.

Appearing, before the BZA were Martin Whorton to request a variance for a storage shed on his land in Amissville, and Peter Quinn, assistant headmaster at Wakefield, to ask for an extension of a special use permit granted in November for Wakefield Manor which serves as a boys dormitory for the private school.

Martin Whorton had been denied a'building permit for his shed because it would be slightly less than ten feet from the property line as required by zoning ordinance
